FICEM-APCAC Communication Comission Workshop

The agreements, in terms of identity, roles, priorities, and responsibilities, reached in the workshop organized jointly between the Communication Commission and the Institutes Commission, allowed to strengthen the strategic vision of the organization and the integration of its work teams for promoting the value that FICEM-APCAC generates to all the associates as valid interlocutor of the industry that contributes to the insurance of the sustainable development of the sector.

The workshop counted with the participation of José Miguel Torrebiarte, president of FICEM-APCAC, Máximo Dolman, Communication Commission Director, members of the Communication Commission, among whom: Gabriel Restrepo, José Otavio Carvalho, Hugo Rodrigues and Amalia Rozo; and members of the Markets and Products Commission, specifically representatives of the institutes coming from Central-America, South-America, and Europe.

Likewise, it was held in Bogota the first meeting on behalf of the FICEM-APCAC Technical Committees, registered in the Markets and Products Commission, for coordinating processes linked to the Road, Housing, Concrete Products, and Education work groups.

To the meeting attended for South-America: Carlos Ossa, Executive Director of the Cement Manufacturers Colombian Institute; Enrique Romero, from the Argentinean Portland Cement Institute; Augusto Holmberg, General Manager of the Chilean Cement and Concrete Institute; Jaime Salvador from the Ecuadorian Cement and Concrete Institute; José Otavio Carvhalo, from the Cement Industry National Union; and Fabrizio Bravo, representative of the Housing Committee and member of the Cement Manufacturers Colombian Institute.

For Europe attended Carlos Jofré, representative of the Road Committee and Technical Director of the Spanish Institute of Cement and its Applications. During the meeting, the FICEM-APCAC Road Committee shared the Pavement Rehabilitation International Seminar Memories.

That event, held in Guatemala in 2007, counted with the participation of more than 200 members of the sector, coming from 20 countries, and collected the most successful cases of cement use for the rehabilitation of pavements in America, Europe, and Africa.

The meeting allowed to establish guidelines on the action chronogram to be followed by the technical committees and which will promote the associates' strength throughout 2008, by promoting the exchange of experiences and the coordination of activities that will contribute to the sustainable development of the cement industry.

In this occasion, FICEM-APCAC shares a presentation that offers, in a simple manner, the results of the group dynamics performed in the aligning session. The document represents an important step in the adoption of a new manner of organizing the internal processes, with the aim of being each time more efficient in the achievement of the established goals.
